I shipped out Keiran's head on Monday to the girl doing his face up through UPS. Even after the fiasco of receiving Keiran, I didn't think it would be an issue using UPS. Then today I got an email from the girl doing Keiran's face up.
Here is the email:
"Oh my goodness!
Your head has arrived and looks fine (I like
how DZ does the face masks), but things could have been very bad! UPS
delivered both your package and a $900 camera 0_0 to a completely
unrelated address. They came so early that my mom hadn't reached work
yet, then delivered it to a random business down the block, without
leaving a note or anything. We only found out because we were wondering
where the camera had gone and called to inquire after it! Luckily the
other business had both packages and gave them over and everything's
fine, but I'm definitely putting out a notice for people not to use UPS
to send to me if they possibly can. I lost one other package from
Amazon about a month ago and I'm pretty sure now the same thing
happened. ACH!
Sorry about sounding scary, this really freaked me out! Why would anyone suppose it's a good idea to deliver to a neighboring business with no connection to the owner?"
Scary! Poor Keiran! He does not have any luck with UPS. I'm glad that he finally made it in one piece.
So after we shipped out Keiran's head, I received his new eyes. If I knew that they would have been here so quickly, I would have waited to ship out his head. Now I have to wait until I get his head back to put the new eyes in and hope I don't bump his new eyelashes at all when I try to get the new eyes in.
Tomorrow, I am shipping out Keiran's head for his custom face up. So for a couple weeks, he will be headless. He looks rather freaky right now.
See you later, Keiran.
I got my birthday present early, my first BJD, ball jointed doll! I got a Dollzone Mo. He was quite troublesome getting here. All because of UPS. My doll was supposed to be delivered last Wednesday, the day we left for Anime Expo. So we left a note for the pet sitter to bring in the package. We did not know that he needed signed for. So we called UPS and asked them to hold onto the package and deliver again on Tuesday (tomorrow). Well, they tried to deliver him again last Thursday. We then decided to leave LA on Sunday instead of Monday so we called UPS to see if they could deliver it on Monday instead of Tuesday (which they didn't even pay attention to.) So, when we called again, they still had it to be delivered again on Monday instead of Tuesday. So this morning, we check the UPS website to see if he was out for delivery. Nothing on the website, so we figured that they finally changed the date to Tuesday. But we still called to check. Then the manager for UPS didn't know where the package was. So we waited over an hour for them to call back to let us know where he was. Nothing. Then we decided to leave to pick the package up. Right then, UPS called and said the deliver driver was 5 minutes from our house. We turned right around, got back to our house and we missed the driver! So then we started searching for the driver and called UPS back and had them search for the driver so we could meet up with him. We found one UPS driver at a gas station (wrong driver!) so we started to head home. Then we saw another UPS truck that was getting ready to leave a retail store. My husband pulled in front of his truck to stop him and he was finally the right driver! So I finally got my doll!
I got him without a face up (make up) because I am going to get a custom face up done by Vitta Vera. So soon, I will have to take of his head and ship it out to her.
Well, here he is. I named him Keiran. I don't have any clothes or wigs for him yet, so I quickly made him a fur wig and a pair of pants.
Here is his arrival.
And here is his wig and pants I made for him.
We just came back from Anime Expo 2008. This year it was held in downtown LA. My biggest compliant was the hotel. We stayed at the Westin Bonaventure. I've stayed at Westin's before, but this one was boring. It had an atrium that was supposed to have all these shops and restaurants in it. Which would have been great, if half of the places were not always closed. So is we go back next year, we will try to pick another hotel.
Day Zero
We got to LA on the day before the convention, to get our badges and check into our boring hotel. We were on the 30th floor (yikes) and was surprised with how small the room was for a Westin.
Day One
The first day was the D. Gray-Man gathering. I was originally going to wear my Lavi but realized the night before we left that the boots are falling apart. So I just got out my Allen Walker I wore that. And of course, it had to be super hot the day I am wearing pleather and black from head to toe.
We ran into a lot of people we knew that day. Can't really remember too much, it must of been the heat.
Day Two
I was lazy this day and just wore a lolita. I still got some pictures taken, though. Bought stuff in the dealer's hall. Ran into my stalker, Vitasoy, again. We got tired of eating crappy food, so we took a different shuttle bus to a different hotel to eat at California Pizza Kitchen and do some shopping. Then we took that bus back to the convention center to catch our bus. We left early to finish stuff for the costume I was wearing the next day. I wanted to go up to the revolving bar in our hotel to watch the fireworks, but since someone (Sheb?) likes to do things at the last minute, there wasn't time.
Day Three
I wore my new costume this day, my Cirucci Thunderwitch costume from Bleach.
There was also an Arrancar gathering from Bleach at 11:00 am and a Bleach gathering at 12:00. I couldn't last throughout the Bleach gathering because it was too hot!
We actually want to a panel today. The panel had the author of the Vampire Hunter D novels, Hideyuki Kikuchi, and the manga artist from the Vampire Hunter D mangas at it. Vampire Hunter D is my favorite novel series, so that was pretty cool.
We also went to the masquerade that night. A lot of people had to drop out, so it seemed pretty short. But there were still some good skits.
Day Four
Last day! And what do we always do on the last day? Lolita Tea Party! And of course, my stalker was there.
We had fun at the tea party. The group I was in, won a game and I won a prize at the raffle. Not too many showed up, though. At least, it was inside!
Well, Saboten-Con was this past weekend and I am exhausted. I was very busy. But not as busy as Sheb. He was the Director of Programming and he ran around nonstop from 8 in the morning until 2 in the morning. I barely got to see him the entire weekend.
Saturday
The first day of the con was on Saturday. I was busy the entire day with the J-Fashion Show, since I was the Director of the J-Fashion Show.
I ended up with around 35 people in the show. Katie Bair was the MC.
Liz from Dead Pepper did the makeup and one of the fashion show models, Guernica, helped with hair. Everyone had a great time, and I have heard nothing but good things about the show from everyone.
Sunday
Sunday was the day of the masquerade. So I was busy on Sunday doing masquerade stuff. I entered my Lavi from D. Gray-Man into the masquerade. (All by myself, without Sheb.) People seemed impressed by my Lavi.
It was annoying carrying that hammer around with no help. Well long story short, I won the Best in the Masters category in the masquerade. I entered as a Journeyman (the middle entry) but they bumped me up to Masters, which I didn't even know until I won. I got a lot of prizes, a plaque, and a real metal sword.
Monday
Monday was all about lolitas and BJDs. I went to some panels on Monday. I went to Liz's makeup panel, Katie Bair's BJD panel, the BJD fashion show and then the lolita tea party. I spent the day dressed as a lolita.
I enjoyed seeing all of the BJDs. I am trying to get one but Sheb won't let me.
And then the day eneded with the Lolita Tea Party. By then, we were all pretty tired. Yukiko, the Fashion Director, and I sat around most of the time talking.
Oh, and Katie Bair drew a great picture of NyuNyu and Yukiko.
Yukiko is the one that is pouting. She is Miss Tragedy, so it suits her well!
I had a great time. Thank God I know a lot of people or I may have been bored with never seeing my husband during the entire weekend!
A while ago on the Saboten forums someone mentioned how cool it would be to sell con panties. Well, it ended up snowballing into this huge idea and it was finally decided that at Saboten-Con this year, con panties and boxers would be sold. But the convention needed a design for the panties and boxers, so a contest was started. Since there weren't too many entries for the panties and boxers designs, I decided to enter to give them more support. The winner was announce today, and it was me! So my designs will grace the con panties and con boxers.
And my prize? A free pair of con panties!
Well, I needed to take a break from my Lavi so I decided to make the lolita that I am going to wear during the J-Fashion Show at Saboten-Con. It took me two weeks to do, which was longer than I thought because the underskirt was a pain. But I am all done. Well, I still need to style the wig.
Here is the underskirt and skirt I made. (I purchased the blouse.) Along with my new shoes.
I guess you could say it is my first Sweet Lolita. It is overly cute, which is what I wanted.
I did have a lot of fun at the Comicon. And thanks for the compliment on my outfit. read more
